Advanced Electronics has launched the Ex-3000 series, three zone automatic extinguishing panel, designed to meet EN12094-1(European standard for Fixed Firefighting Systems-Components for Gas Extinguishing Systems) and EN54-parts 2 and 4.

The Ex-Extinguishing system detects a fire in the same manner as a fire alarm system, but in addition to sounding alarms, it also controls the release of an extinguishing agent. The extinguishing agent can take many forms from CO2 through to specialist gasses developed solely for extinguishing purposes. The agent is released into the atmosphere in the area where a fire has been detected reducing the density of oxygen in the atmosphere around the fire, thus extinguishing the fire.

Ex-3000 Features at a glance

• Graphical LCD Display & alphanumeric keypad – providing clear status information and simple programming routines.
• Large Digit Countdown Timer (prior to release).
• Real-time clock and time-stamped event log.
• Company Logo can be displayed during system normal conditions.
• Connection to P. C. (via standard USB cable). This allows the user to load the company logo and also recover the configuration settings/ event log via hyper terminal (or similar).
• 72Hr battery standby possible on 7Ah batteries (no AUX load and < 600mA alarm load).
• 19 glanding knockouts in the top face of the enclosure
• Earth bus-bar fitted as standard to the back-box for easy termination of drain wires.
• 3 types of Remote Status indicators supported (all variants of which have the same graphical LCD display). Note: Types are with manual release, without manual release and an IP65 variant with manual release.
• Possible to have up to 10 programmable relay outputs and 4 programmable inputs on one panel. These can be used for plant control, interface to other systems etc.

The Ex-Extinguishing system is used primarily in areas of significant value/strategic importance to businesses e.g. computer suites, telecom switch-rooms.
