Advanced
Electronics Expands Range with Acquisition of DDA Specialist
Advanced Electronics
Ltd has expanded its range of intelligent fire alarm control
equipment with the acquisition of Clarion Communications, a leading
manufacturer of DDA-compliant fire safety products for the deaf
and hearing impaired. Clarion’s product
range and its existing customer base will provide Advanced Electronics
with a platform for significant growth in the all important DDA-compliant
marketplace.
The Clarion
Communications business and staff have re-located to the Advanced
headquarters in Cramlington, where the products will continue
to be manufactured,
developed and marketed under Clarion’s popular LifeLine brand.
Clarion will continue to operate as a separate business unit managed
by Advanced’s Sales Director, Ian Thompson.
Commenting
on the acquisition, Ian Thompson said, "This is
a fantastic opportunity for the company to expand its business
into areas covered by the DDA. Clarion’s
team now have access to Advanced’s infrastructure, facilities
and resources, which will benefit both current Clarion users and
offer new
opportunities for Advanced’s existing partners. All of the
company’s sales team will be able to provide
information and support on the LifeLine products."
The LifeLine
range consists of four products – UniCOM, NetCOM,
PalmCOM and SleepCOM. UniCOM is a control panel compliant with
BS5839-1:2002 that connects to a standard fire panel and transmits
an alarm
condition to the PalmCOM and SleepCOM units when a fire alarm occurs.
PalmCOM is a small robust
vibrating hand-held pager that displays pre-configured text messages
transmitted from the UniCOM.
SleepCOM is a stand-alone bedside unit linked to a vibrating pillow
pad that ensures individuals are awoken
when an alarm situation is transmitted from the UniCOM. NetCOM
has the same functionality as UniCOM, but
via an RS232 data interface can connect to intelligent control
panels, enabling detailed information to be
read, interrogated and distributed to PalmCOM units. Windows based
paging software can also be added,
which will enable a UniCOM or NetCOM system to provide full site-wide
paging capabilities.
"The acquisition of Clarion Communications is a perfect fit
for our business" said Ray Hope, Managing
Director of Advanced Electronics. "It gives us access to an
exciting field-proven range of products, which
allows us to supply a complete fire system solution for DDA-compliant
applications."
Advanced Electronics
manufactures a comprehensive range of intelligent control and
indicating panels,
software and peripherals for fire detection, smoke control and
emergency lighting monitoring. The Mx-4000
family of fire panels is approved to EN54 Parts 2 & 4 and is
compatible with both Hochiki and Apollo
protocols.
