New Flagship School Benefits from Advanced Fire Protection
Intelligent Fire Panels from Advanced Electronics are at the heart of a new fire detection system at Bristol’s newest flagship school. The £33 million Redland Green School opened its doors in September 2007 and when full will be home to nearly 1400 students. The central feature of the new 11,000m2 building complex is the ‘street’, a naturally lit indoor corridor that links all the main areas of the school. Seven Advanced Mx-4000 fire control panels were installed by Bristol-based MAT Fire Systems Ltd, together with over 400 detectors and 300 base sounders from Hochiki and 8 Airsense Aspirating Smoke Detection (ASD) systems. A combination of 5 single loop panels and 2 4-loop panels were installed in different locations throughout the school and networked together to provide a single integrated system. The Airsense ASD units were also fully interfaced to the Mx-4000 panels via I/O units. The fire alarm system is fully integrated with the Building Management System (BMS) and access control system to ensure safe and quick evacuation in the event of a fire or incident. The Mx-4000 panels automatically initiate a plant shutdown via the BMS and activate door retainers and smoke dampers and notify the fire services via a RedCare link.“ We specified the Mx-4000 range from Advanced Electronics because of their field-proven reliability, advanced networking features and excellent customer and technical support”, said Mr Rick Coles, Managing Director of MAT Fire Systems. |
